ASCON Gesellschaft für Abfall und Sekundärrohstoff Consulting mbH is expanding its operational activities with a new logistics centre for secondary raw materials. On the one hand, the new site at Cologne-Hürth focuses on secondary raw materials from Germany and the neighbouring European countries that will be marketed all over the world. On the other hand, ASCON will be importing secondary raw materials from international markets for recycling in European recycling plants.
The establishment and operation of this logistics centre, which has been approved by the local government of Cologne as German Federal Emission Control Act (BImSchG) compliant, reflects ASCON's strategic focus on the changing worldwide secondary raw material markets.
"ASCON has been committed to strengthening the circular economy and to developing it further, as well as increased product responsibility through the handling of secondary raw materials, for a long time," says Managing Director Andreas Henn. "Especially the import stop in China and other Asian countries has resulted in huge challenges for the European waste management industry. ASCON believes this harbours major opportunities for the German or European recycling market; we have the respective expertise and run our own recycling plants and an international network. We are therefore also expanding our respective operational business in Germany."
